It's a new year.  Many of us  made personal resolutions, looking forward to a prosperous 2012.  Swearing in hopeful promises to ourselves to be richer, thinner, smarter, recycle more, be more compassionate, ditch diet sodas for green tree, donate to charity, and finally clean out the hall closet we've avoided for years.

After a pleasant New Year's Eve dinner with good friends, a belly full of grilled salmon and saffron rice, a prompt phone call from both my children with updates on their midnight whereabouts, and a sweet kiss from my spouse of 22 years, I made only this single resolution; to be thankful for another year.

Besides, I am already rich in so many ways, I think green tea tastes like dirt and hall closets have doors for a reason.

Whatever your resolutions, or lack of, I hope the new year is good to you!

You never know what you'll find in a junk drawer.  We were peeking inside ours the other day, and we spied all kinds of creative inspiration hiding in there.

Along with the usual dust bunnies and a plethora of twist ties, we found Godzilla, pink flamingos, a couple of Easter eggs, and a whole lot of other junk. Rummaging around in there was sort of like finding a prize at the bottom of the cracker jack box.  Who cares about the pocorn? Show us the treasure!

Seriously, our junk drawers are way cool.  In fact, they're so full of awesome, they inspired some of The Collective artists towards a new exhibit... Cosmic Carnival.

Watch our events page for details!

Here's a little insider info about the fifteen members of AHA Collective. We paint, collage, sketch, goauche, take photos, stitch, felt, ink, play with old toys, driftwood, and found objects. One of us has been known to play with rocks. Another has a thing for llama hair. Yea, that's right, llama hair. The rest is none of your bees wax.  Just kidding.  Even the bees wax is a creative medium to some of the AHA artists. Bees wax that is, as in encaustic art.

Now, we even have our own blog.  Hey, we never said we'd be as good at blogging as we are at playing with rocks.
