Open Call for artwork
UNCENSORED (not having been banned or edited.)
Artists are encouraged to submit original works of art that may evoke strong emotion or challenge the viewer. Nature of subject matter may be controversial, empathetic, sensational, shocking, opinionated, considerate, taboo, humorous, political, satirical...but above all, thought provoking. Art should encourage viewers to consider ‘what is art’ and also the artistic freedom allowed in the U.S. to create without censorship.
ELIGIBILITY: Uncensored is a non-juried exhibit open to all artists 18 and older, working in 2D & 3D mediums. Entries must be original works completed within the last 3 years. Two dimensional work must be wired and ready to hang. Art without proper wiring or hanging hardware will not be displayed. 2D work must not exceed 36” in any direction. 3D works should not exceed 50 lbs, and take up no more than 30”x30” max floor space. Works must be able to fit through a standard exterior door. Artwork that requires special installation or hardware may require the artist to install. All artwork must be clearly labelled on back with artist’s name, contact information.
ENTRIES: Artists may enter up to 2 artworks, which are to be delivered in person at art drop time noted below. Artists are encouraged to bring an artist statement about their artwork.
ART DROP: Drop off work at Art Hotel Collective, 1112 S. Akard, Dallas on Saturday, June 8 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
ENTRY FEE: One fee of $15 for up to (2) entries.
Entry fee is non-refundable, and may be paid at time of art drop via cash, check, money order, or in advance via Paypal. If using PayPal our email ID is: [email protected]
It is acceptable for another person to drop off your work, as long as you agree to allow them to sign the artist’s agreement on your behalf. We must be notified of this in advance, and you and the person dropping off for you must be at least 18 years of age. Please make sure your artwork is clearly labelled with your name, and contact info. If you are submitting more than one piece, make sure the titles of your work are also noted on the back. Art Hotel Collective is not responsible for illegible or incorrect information provided on the artist’s agreement. Art Hotel Collective will take every precaution for safe handling and displaying of artwork, but assumes no responsibility. Artists are responsible for insuring their own artwork.
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, June 15, 6:00-9:00 pm at Art Hotel Collective. All participating artists are asked to attend the reception and to help promote the event. Art Hotel receptions are free and open to the public. Art will remain on display through June 22. There will be a second viewing opportunity open to the public on Saturday, June 22 from 1:00-3:00pm. View times between June 15 and June 22 may be arranged by appointment.
ART PICK UP: Art pick up date is June 22, 3:00-4:00pm.
SALES: Art Hotel Collective will not take commission on art sales. Artists keep all sales proceeds. Artist is responsible for handling their own sales transactions. Art Hotel Collective does not guarantee sale of artwork. Art Hotel Collective will not release artwork to any person without written authorization from the artist.
PRIVACY POLICY: Artist contract information (address, phone, etc) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists. Artist emails will be added to our future events announcement email list. Artists who do not wish to be on the email list may unsubscribe when they receive future announcements.
